What is the Crane Capital of the World?

Crane Capital If you’re ever had the opportunity to visit the city of Seattle, you’ve probably noticed that it rains there a lot. Seattle is known for being one of the rainiest major cities in the United States. It actually just broke a 122-year-old record for rain, which didn’t come as a surprise to anyone who has been to Seattle. But that’s not all Seattle is known for!

Seattle is also considered the crane capital of America, and once you start walking around the city, it’s not hard to see why. According to the Seattle Times, Seattle had 58 construction cranes positioned around the city at the start of July 2017, which is almost 60 percent more than any other cities around America. And this isn’t the first month Seattle has taken the “Crane Capital of America” title. It also topped the list for most cranes last year.

Why are there so many cranes in Seattle? Well, it’s mostly because the city is right in the middle of a construction craze that is seeing dozens of new buildings go up every year. In 2017 alone, there were about 150 major construction projects planned, and that number is expected to stay high in future years. There are already about 100 construction projects planned for the next few years with many more to come, which means Seattle may keep its “Crane Capital” title for the foreseeable future.

While Seattle is no doubt using more cranes than other city at the moment, Astro Welding & Fabricating understands that there are people in other parts of the country who need to get access to high-quality cranes, too.
